555 Notebook is a tool designed to help friends split shared expenses during trips. It is intended for informal, personal use among trusted groups. The information and calculations provided by the Service are for convenience only.

Not Financial Advice

555 Notebook is not a financial service, accounting tool, or payment processor. The app does not:

• Process or transfer money between users
• Provide financial, legal, or tax advice
• Guarantee the accuracy of expense calculations
• Act as a substitute for professional accounting software

All settlements and payments between trip members occur outside of the app. We are not responsible for any financial transactions between users.

AI Receipt Scanning Accuracy

The AI-powered receipt scanning feature uses machine learning models to extract text and data from receipt images. While we strive for high accuracy:

• Extracted data (merchant names, item names, prices, totals) may contain errors
• Image quality, lighting, and receipt formatting affect accuracy
• Translations of non-English receipts are approximate
• Users are responsible for verifying all extracted data before relying on it

We recommend reviewing and correcting any AI-extracted data to ensure accuracy.

Expense Calculations

Balance calculations, split amounts, and settlement suggestions are computed algorithmically. While the calculations follow consistent mathematical rules:

• Rounding differences may occur due to currency sub-unit limitations
• Remainder amounts from uneven splits are assigned to the last participant
• Users should verify balances and settlements before making payments

Data Availability

While we strive to maintain high availability:

• The Service may experience downtime for maintenance or unforeseen issues
• Inactive trips may be automatically deleted after 90 days
• Settled and archived trips are automatically deleted after 30 days
• We recommend exporting important trip data via CSV before trips are deleted

Offline mode provides local access to cached data, but cached data is cleared upon logout.

Third-Party Services

555 Notebook integrates with third-party services including:

• Google Sign-In — for account authentication
• Google Play Billing — for credit purchases
• Firebase Cloud Messaging — for push notifications
• AI model providers — for receipt text extraction and translation
• Resend — for transactional emails (password reset)
• Cloudflare R2 — for receipt image storage

We are not responsible for the availability, accuracy, or policies of these third-party services. Their use is governed by their respective terms and privacy policies.

Cultural Reference

555 Notebook is inspired by the classic "555" pocket notebook traditionally used by shopkeepers to track debts. The app is a modern, digital homage to this cultural heritage. We are not affiliated with any manufacturer of physical 555 notebooks.

Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, 555 Notebook and its developers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising out of or relating to your use of the Service. This includes, but is not limited to, damages for loss of data, financial disputes between users, or reliance on AI-extracted receipt data.
