555 Notebook is a trip expense splitter named after the classic 555 pocket notebook that shopkeepers used to track who owed what. It helps groups of friends split bills fairly, item by item.
Snap a photo of the receipt. Our AI reads the shop name, each item, quantities, prices, and the total, usually within seconds. It handles receipts in many languages and translates item names into English. Each scan costs 1 credit. Like any AI, it can occasionally misread something, so give the items a quick check.
Most apps split the bill evenly. In 555 Notebook each person taps the items they actually had, so if you only had a coffee while your friend ordered a burger and fries, you pay for the coffee. Anything nobody claims is split evenly, and you can see what's left and remind the group to claim.
Partly. Your trips are saved on your phone, so you can check balances, receipts, and expenses without a connection. Adding or changing things needs a connection, and a banner lets you know when you're offline.
154 currencies, including USD, EUR, GBP, JPY, SGD, THB, and MYR. Each trip uses one currency, which you choose when you create it.
We take it seriously. Everything is sent over HTTPS, passwords are hashed with bcrypt, and sign-in tokens are kept in your phone's secure storage. Only people in a trip can see that trip. We never sell your data. You can delete your account at any time; your share of past spending in shared trips stays, under "Deleted User", so everyone else's balances remain correct. New accounts get 10 free welcome credits, redeemed with one tap in the app. Creating a trip, scanning a receipt, and duplicating a trip each cost 1 credit. Everything else, including typed-in receipts, expenses, payments, and joining trips, is free. More credits start at $1.00 for 10, with up to 20% off larger packs.
Yes. Share your code from Profile → Invite friends. When a friend signs up with it and creates their first trip, you both get 5 credits. This works for up to 50 friends.
Not directly. 555 Notebook never handles money. Under Profile → Ways to get paid you can save up to five payment links, QR codes, bank details, or notes. A trip mate who owes you sees them next to the amount, pays you in their own banking or wallet app, and records the payment. Balances update once you confirm it. You can stop sharing these details at any time.
